Achievement
Have you ever met a goal and then felt hollow.
Have you ever attained great height
Only to discover
That the pole you were climbing was the only thing holding you up.
Deprived of our busy
All our razor honed focus
Touches empty time.
We lurch, unexpectedly dizzy.
Vertigo sets in.
It’s the day after Christmas.
It’s a scale reading your goal weight.
An empty inbox.
A renovated house.
When you’re out for a long walk,
but the sidewalk cuts off.
Goals create movement.
Movement ends goals.
Over and over, clunking forward
We struggle like fools
Driving cars with square wheels.
This was so relatable! Love how vividly you’ve expressed it here – great examples, Sarah! 🙂

Thanks for enjoying the first chapters of my book. If there’s something in particular you like about the story, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Totally agree. Even after a big achievement, it never feels like you imagine it will! Lovely work!

You put it so perfectly. I suddenly pictured you writing on glass with a diamond-nibbed pen. I’m not sure how that sounds from your end, but it’s a compliment to your clarity and faultlessness x

What a lovely image. Also it’s totally what I do all the time. 😉
